our orchard

We are a third generation family farm owned and operated in Hood River since 1910.

Originally a strawberry and asparagus farm, Gunichi Tamiyasu planted the first fruit trees here in the 1930's. The farm operated as a wholesale fruit grower until 2003 when the current owners, Tom Garofalo and Ramona Tamiyasu, began selling at farmer's markets and specialty grocery stores. We have been certified organic through Oregon Tilth since 2005.

Our focus has always been to bring the best tasting fruit we can grow to the market. We plant the best of the new cultivars from breeding programs around the world. We are continuously trying out varieties—old or new—with unique flavors or qualities that our customers will enjoy.

What makes fruit taste good? Grown at a higher elevation with plenty of sun and cool nights gives our fruit a good balance of sugars and acids with high aromatics.

You can purchase at our booth at the Portland Saturday Farmers’ Market from July through December. Fruit bought in bulk for processing or group sales can be picked up at the farm or in Portland. We also have fruits listed through the Gorge Farmers’ Collective website.

We have many new fruits in the pipeline, so we invite you to become fellow "fruit explorers" and try some of the exciting new fruit we bring to market.
